I spirit going missing wasn't unheard of, but it still shook Withering Woundwort every time he caught wind. Most of the time he'd leave it up to other, more focused spirits to search but he felt obligated to at least help this time. Sure, he couldn't focus for the life of himself, but he had to try. It just wouldn't be right to not so much as try to help.
The red kiji padded around where he was told the lost was last seen, crimson eyes scanning the forested ground. He crawled up a tree, weaving in circles until he found a branch he liked.
Droopy ears rose, listening to the crunching of familiar animals walking around- but none sounded large enough to be a lost kiji. Woundwort sighed and jumped down from his branch, further away from the last seen location.
His red limbs froze when he heard a noise, a rustle... Something was moving quickly through the bushes behind him. Spinning around, he was met by his familiar. She chirped and flew around his head, pulling at some messy fur that stood on his forehead.
"Hey! Quit that! I'm on a mission." Woundwort declared, raising his head proudly. "I am going to find the missing spirit."
The familiar chirped, fluttering around his face.
"Yeah, I suppose you can join me. Four eyes are better than two!"
She landed between his ears and began to preen at her feathers, not intending to help much.
Woundwort then continued looking around, searching diligently under rocks and logs, in the coves, and over the trees. He was set on finding this missing spirit and returning it to wherever it belonged. Perhaps he would be rewarded? Oh, well, he wouldn't be upset if not, the *real* reward was the experience! Or... something like that.
