"A new life begins on the turn of time's wheel, as dawn's brilliant rise brings the church bell's peal..."
The soft, baritone voice rang pleasantly through the foliage that shaded a quiet woodland pond, leaves the only green upon the water, winter's thaw still too fresh for algae. Sunlight shone down through the canopy, bringing out the soft pastel pinks and lavenders of the hydrangea bushes that took shelter amidst the boughs. Though the gentle light granted warmth to all those of the Earth, the bite of winter's fading chill remained carried upon the breeze, a contrast that harmonized into comfort and ease.
Lying admist the softly falling petals, a spirit akin to both horse and dolphin in form watched with glowing purple eyes as a flock of brightly-coloured bluejays set about in the flurry of motion that was the preparation for new life. The subtalleon was neither particularly large nor small for his kind, his variegated grey skin causing the pastel beauty of the hydrangea's fallen petals to appear even grander in their splendour.
Long pointed wings brushed aside bush branches in their idle swaying, casting more lavender and pink petals to cascade over him. Far from minding the entangling in his silken mane and the long fur along his back, the subtalleon clearly enjoyed the soft feel. A finned tail flicked back and forth lazily in the pond's water, occasionally knocking petals and pebbles over the edge of the land, occasionally causing tiny fish to divert their course.
"...as ocean's waters be your grave, the grace of light will fade..."
Despite the sorrow of the lyrics, the voice that sang them held nought but relaxed contentment. A rare moment of quiet for one of Yile's many servants, as Cirein enjoyed the wonder and burgeoning energy that was spring.
