Alternate images (Or 'transformations' as the site lists them as) provide additional reference views of your character beyond the primary import image. These references help other players understand your character's features and markings that may not be fully visible in a single image. Some alternate images are required for certain character types to participate in regular gameplay, while others are optional.
Requirements
Characters with Secondary Forms due to splices or duality, Asymmetrical Energy or markings hidden from view, and custom Legendary Familiar Slots require an additional image and will be marked as Disabled until appropriate references are provided.
Skew, Pinto, Stained, and Filter are some of the few markings that require additional images as well, though exceptions can be made if there are no markings under Stained/Filter, or if you state in the comments that Pinto/Skew is symmetrical in the non viewable places.
References lacking a shine/sheen/glow, additional detail references, back of wing references, and standard familiar references are not required but highly encouraged.
Types of Alternate Images
Secondary Form is used for Spliced spirits who shapeshift between their forms. For example, if one kiji's form is a volus with a golden base coat, and the other form is a lien with a nighted base coat, you would need this Secondary Form tab to show both transformations. This alternate image is REQUIRED if applicable.
Other Side is used when you have markings such as Skew, Pinto, or Asymmetrical Energy, or a merged Splice that is vastly asymmetrical. Asymmetrical Energy and complicated asymmetrical Splices require an Other Side reference for gameplay participation, while Skew and Pinto references are only optional if not asymmetrical, or the extent of it is visible on the face or legs. Additionally, if you have any other markings on the design that are asymmetrical, it may be required.
Without Shines/Sheens/Glows provides alternate references lacking these effects specifically for color picking purposes. References without the Stained marking can also be uploaded to this category to help with accurate color selection.
Additional Reference accommodates extra images you need to display for various reasons. Examples include perfectly merged Spliced characters whose alternate form might simply show a different energy color, detailed closeups of specific features like eyes, color palettes for characters who may be difficult to color pick from normally, or versions showing the character with one wing removed to reveal the other wing or back details.
Familiar is required when your character has a custom Legendary Familiar Slot applied, and can optionally be used for other existing familiars. Custom Legendary Familiar Slots must first be discussed with Wolvenhyde or another admin, who decides the effects and boosts of the familiar. After approval, you need to create a reference image and provide it for upload. Characters with legendary familiar slots will be disabled without proper references, though other familiar references remain optional. Reference images must be original work and cannot use AI generation or images pulled from search engines.
How to Submit an Alternate Image
Navigate to your character's import page and locate the sidebar on the left. Click on Update Design under the Settings header, then click the Create Request button. Fill out all required information following the instructions on each page, treating this process the same as updating your primary image when initially submitting to approvals.
The only difference is you will have to update the 'Transformation' dropdown in the traits section to list the correct alternate image type.
Important: Always either mention in the comments section which specific alternate image type you're submitting OR update the alternate image yourself in the dropdown under the traits tab. This ensures we input your reference into the correct Transformation field. If we have to contact you for clarification about whether you really meant to submit a crow as an alternate form versus a familiar reference, we'll simply reject the submission and require you to resubmit with proper documentation.
