Player Settings Information

General Settings

When you click on Settings from the dropdown that has your username on it, the first thing you'll see is your avatar settings. This can be changed at any time, and the allowed file types are .png, .jpeg, and .gif. There is a warning on the page that says gif files will result in an error, but the upload should still work - simply return to your profile page to make sure that the avatar updated if you used a gif. To hard refresh, press Ctrl + F5 on your keyboard.

The next setting is Avatar Borders. You can choose any of the available borders you see here by selecting it from the border dropdown, and then pressing Edit. You can preview all borders available to you below the dropdown. You can unlock more borders through regular gameplay.

Next is your profile area. You can enter anything you like here, and even apply some minor html/CSS code, but there are limits on what the site can show. Also, please remember to keep your profile content PG-13 or an admin will wipe it.

The next area is User Design Terms. This area is for you to put the terms for any import designs you have designed. The terms will be displayed on every character that lists you as a designer. You can set permissions there for the players who own the designs of characters you have done, such as restricting the sale of the character until it has been redesigned by someone else.

The next section is Birthday Publicity, which is where you decide whether you want people to see when your birthday is, and you can also set how much they see. You cannot change your birthday here, but if you accidentally entered the wrong birthdate when signing up, an admin can change it for you if you submit an Admin Request.

Below that, you may also change your Username. You may do this once every 30 days, and it will create a publicly available log of every change, letting people see your history.

Following this, there's an area where you can change your email address, if you desire. After that is a section where you can change your password. Be sure to choose something complicated if you haven't already!

Aliases

Also in settings is a section on the left panel for Aliases. You need to apply a Primary Alias in order to access the entirety of the site. If you do not, your account will remain unverified, and you will be unable to access many features and options. The only two options to set for Primary Alias right now are deviantArt and Toyhouse, so you will need an account and be logged into it on at least one of those to link up and verify your Gaia's World account.

Deactivating (and re-activating) Your Account

If you no longer wish to participate in the game, you may deactivate your account at any time. From the settings page, there is a menu on the left with a Deactivate Account link. You cannot delete your account altogether because of the how the site works, but deactivating your account will disable your account from public view.  You can always reactivate your account at a later date if you so desire. After a week after we notice your account has been deactivated, we will go through and disable any characters you own, effectively removing them from play. If you return, let us know, and we will re-activate all your characters.

When deactivating your account, please fill out the reason, and make sure to list in the reason what you would like us to do with your characters and items. If no instruction is given, we will simply disable all characters.
