World Event Guide

What Are World Events?

World events are semi-regular events that take place in the World of Gaia. These events change the lore of the world, and the outcome is determined by the playerbase as a whole. World events will change future world events depending on how the playerbase responds to each event. These are meant to be big, involved events, and can run anywhere from a few days to several weeks, possibly a little longer, and require group efforts to bring to a conclusion. On the unlikely chance no one participates in a world event, there may be negative repercussions on the world.

There are seven main types of events, each with multiple subcategories. They are as follows:

  • Team Race is a race that is done with a team of players or groups against othe teams or groups.
    • Cross Country Team Races are races done in two groups against each other, consisting of multiple different obstacles or terrain to cross. Each section has a stat check for those being able to pass it. The winner is determined by whichever team has a member finish first.
    • Baton Team Races are races with two or more teams that have members race one at a time along a specified track. The winner is determined by whoever finishes first.
    • Mounts are a two character team race where you work as a team of two to finish a race. One spirit is a mount for the other. Both characters must finish together; the first team to make it to the finish wins.
    • Endurace Team Races are long races that rely more on stamina than speed. The winner is the first team that finishes.
    • Sprint Team Races are short races that rely more on speed than stamina. The winner is the first team that finishes.
  • Regular Race is a race done by oneself, without any teammates.
    • Cross Country Races are races consisting of multiple different obstacles or terrain to cross. Each section has a stat check for those being able to pass it. The winner is determined by whoever finishes first.
    • Free-for-all (FFA) Races are regular races without anything special to them. The winner is whoever finishes first.
    • Fetch and Return Races are races that are done in three parts: First traveling to a location, second grabbing an item, and third bringing it back. The winner is the first one to come back with the item intact.
    • Mounts are races where the Kiji will ride or be ridden by a random animal, familiar, or sophont in the World of Gaia. The winner is the one who finishes with their partner first. Partners cannot be other spirits.
    • Endurace Races are long races that rely more on stamina than speed. The winner is the first character that finishes.
    • Sprint Races are short races that rely more on speed than stamina. The winner is the first character that finishes.
  • Battle Events are events that are generally a fight against a major specified or selected enemy.
    • Boss Events are events where players team up to fight off a big baddy. These usually consist of a couple phases of trash mobs, before the boss shows up. You can get a lot of rare and unique rewards for participating and beating these.
    • Kiji vs Tallies is a team battle event where Kiji and Tallies are pit against each other. The winner is the team that comes out on top by the end of the battle.
    • Game of War is a team based battle event where two teams select a leader and fight each other. The team that defeats the enemy leader is the one that wins.
    • Survival is an event where instead of battling you need to survive a given situation. The idea is to avoid being put on battle cooldown, or get "knocked out," which disqualifies the character from further participation. Those that make it to the end of the event win; the Immortality boost has no impact on this event.
    • Exorcism is an event where you seek out a particular enemy to destroy, and the winners are the ones who defeat the most.
  • Tournament is a large battle, generally between players and their characters.
    • FFA Tournaments are tounaments where participants are to battle one another. There are no rules. The last character standing wins.

    • Brackets is a traditional bracketed battle, where characters will fight one on one battles until there's only one left.
    • Team Brackets is a bracketed battle where characters will fight in teams of two vs. two until there's only one team left.
    • 2v2 Tournaments are FFA Tournies where characters fight in teams of two. The last team standing wins.
    • Capture the Flag Tournies are similar to capture the flag, where two teams battle, and aim to collect the other team's flag to bring to their own side.
    • Team Battle Tournaments are FFA tournies consisting of two teams, the last team standing wins.
