Tyrone's the sort of personality who can't really comprehend a whole lot that isn't basically sports, but he doesn't feel that he needs to understand complex things to support his family about them. Son comes out as gay? Tyrone doesn't get how his son can find dudes attractive, but his actual reaction is "Go get 'em, tiger!" Any of his kids comes out as trans? He's very confused, but tries hard to get pronouns and names right, and makes it a point to correct others once he finally nails them, and ends up treating it as "My son/daughter was never a son/daughter, they were always a daughter/son and we just didn't know yet."
Kid tells him to not be embarrassing for their upcoming performance or whatever, and Tyrone's just...very confused for a few moments, and then like, "I've no idea what's embarrassing, so let's practice until I get 'being not embarrassing' right! It'll be like a practice match!"
He's also an absolute dumbass whose comprehension of things like math only goes as far as basic addition and subtraction. Anything more complicated than add/subtract double digits is ????? to him. But he does his best.
Any handyman project needs literally anyone else at least reading him the instructions and verifying he's not doing stuff upside-down or sideways.
