Water sprayed in Aurorabeam's face, causing her to sputter and shake her salt-soaked golden mane out. The salty sting sent a jolt through her, momentarily disorienting her. A small bit of laughter from behind caused her to whip around, her tail landing square against the chest of another red kiji who shared common energy to her. Vairsing, one who'd been summoned by a summon of her's.
Vairsing let off a small noise and backed off, foot slipping a little on the splintered raft adrift in the raging sea under them. They'd paused to get some footing here momentarily, but it was almost too small for the two of them, only a little bigger than a french door. It bobbed precariously in the churning waves, threatening to throw them both into the angry sea.
Aurorabeam puffed up, almost insulted, a snort of disapproval leaving her jaw, before glancing down at the water and smirking to herself with a touch of mischief. Then, with a flick of her wrist, she sent a wave of seawater spraying towards the other kiji. Vairsing, with a surprised, but quite amused yipe, his bright red eyes widening, immediately floated into the air, wisps of twirling colors shooting higher than him as he dodged the water before opening his jaw to unleash a torrent of water spray at Aurorabeam. Aurorabeam, who indeed saw this coming, had already spread her wings and took flight to avoid the stream of water, which quickly mingled with the raging sea.
She'd almost forgotten they were here not to play with each other but to help find the cause of this storm. Gaia had asked them to help some fishermen struggling, but amidst the howling wind, the torrential rain, and the churning black clouds that swallowed the sky, fighting off something sounded much more fun.
Aurorabeam, noticing a flicker of movement in the sky other than her red companion, gathered heat in the back of her throat, her mouth glowing red before she launched a torrent of flames in Vairsing's direction. Vairsing, eyes wide, ducked down, floating out of the way of the blast, his fur only a little singed from her flames. He watched them sail past him and hit a huge, dark green sea serpent right in the face, earning a cry from it as it turned away with a hiss.
"Hey, watch it!" Varsing complained, tail thrashing as he glanced at Aurorabeam, however he didn't look upset, licking his lips and immediately looking back at the almost black serpent. It was larger than the two of them, the size of a large ship, but not as big as a leviathan. Aurorabeam only grinned playfully, before flapping her wings to get higher. The enraged sea serpent let off a roar, and what appeared to be a frenzy of large, bioluminescent fish of some kind flailed in the ocean around it, summoned to its call. Aurorabeam's eyes lit up at the sight.
"Hey Vairsing, race you to see who picks off more?" She offered, which earned her an excited and toothy grin from her companion at the suggestion.
"I'm going to wipe the floor with you," he replied, immediately diving down to start, mouth wide to take a bite out of any creature that dared jump out of the water at him. Aurorabeam shook her head and followed after, pulling her wings tightly to her body as she too dove down to snap at anything that dared attack, letting a torrent of flames burn anything out of the water to a crisp.
The serpent, thrashing and snapping at the kiji flying around the surface of the water, attempted to snap at them as well, but they were too fast. Letting out a call and raising its head to the darkened sky, a clap of lightning summoned by the creature snaked down and hit it, but it seemed undamaged. Aurorabeam, her skin prickling with the sense of danger, immediately backed off, calling to her companion who in her eyes didn't seem to have yet noticed. Vairsing, however, seeing the serpent's mouth parting its thin, razor sharp teeth which held back a ball of lightning in its mouth, narrowed his eyes, whiskers curling close to him. As the serpent reeled its head back, widening its jaw open, a flash of electricity shot from its mouth towards Vairsing. He quickly dodged the shot of lightening that emerged from the beast's mouth, zipping forward through the thick air and immediately sinking his teeth into the throat of the beast, which closed its mouth with a high pitched noise. Electricity buzzed through Vairsing's being, his fur raised, his body going stiff, but he held on tight.
Aurorabeam, covering her ears from the shrill screech a moment, didn't waste a chance. Once her disorientation wore off, she quickly flew down to assist, slashing her claws against the eyes of the creature, which letting out a final guttural scream, slowly collapsed into the raging waves. Vairsing let go only right before it hit the water, floating up, the static still clinging to his fur. Letting off a small pant as he licked his lips, Aurorabeam looked over at him before laughing whole-heartedly, nearly tumbling in the air. "You-you!"
"Me? What?!" Vairsing replied, immediately looking at himself. His mane and tail were poofed, frizzy, the bits of fur along him standing up on end. He tried shaking it off, but it seemed stuck to him for now. Vairsing sputtered, his fur sparking faintly as he glared at Aurorabeam, a playful threat in his eyes. With a small bemused grumble, Vairsing reached to brush a whisker against Aurorabeam, still trying to right herself in the air, who yelped at the zap that resulted.
Baring her teeth playfully, she once again flapped and zipped after Vairsing, who dodged and weaved, darting down towards the waves to take out more of the remaining bait around. Aurorabeam soon joined in once again going after the creatures instead of him, smiling and enjoying the simple battles together.
