It was a long fall afternoon that found two fiery Kijis in each other's presence. Sol and Eridanus made company, and the pair padded through the hot desert sands, turning over the occasional rock or stick as they chatted casually about the most recent wildfire that had burned through the nearby forest. It hadn't burned much, and the forest was already recovering; thankfully, so was the fauna.
"That looks yummy," Erid said out of the blue through a moment of silence, padding over to a nearby cactus.
Sol paused, watching the white kiji with narrow eyes. "It's a cactus. It's not-" Too late. Eridanus had already taken a bite. Sol let out an exasperated sigh as Erid's wings fluttered, pulling him back. "-good food..."
Eridanus hung his head, his mouth covered in needles as he stumbled his way over to Sol, a clear look of regret on his face as he attempted to ask for help. "Ih hurrrr!"
"It's your own damn fault," Sol replied simply, looking him over, outwardly frowning but internally amused by this Kiji's needle covered muzzle. "I swear you're worse than a newly summoned Omegite." Regardless, Sol attempted to assist Eridanus with removing the needles best they could.
