[Gift] Gaia's Fable

Since the birth of their kind the oldest of the kijikaiaku watched served their mother. Those like Frostbite who served on the front lines, tearing through her forsaken children in her name. Those like Sol who guided their kind, teaching those who came after how to serve their mother and carry out her will. Those like Tirloch who gathered the remnants of energy from the battle fields, bringing the souls home to the core to heal their dying mother. Kokoro was the eldest of all, the first child of their mother and the leader of his kind, guiding all and serving as her right hand. All served the great and vengeful goddess who promised a future free of the smog her children had choked the land with. Free of the steel and stone structures that reached above the treetops, blotting out the light. Through their labors they cleansed the world, clearing the way for a better future for their mother and all the creatures of the world she loved.

As the world healed so did their mother, the warmth and care of her world and creations surfacing through her rage. That kindness extended to all her children once more, even those she had once forsaken, blessing them with fertile fields and lush forests to sustain themselves under the promise that the humans would use this second chance well and spare her domain as she had spared them. Those eldest among the kijis watched diligently, veiled from their eyes as the ensured the humans kept to their oath. In time mortals joined in service of Gaia, such as Vault, Ares and Tatsu. Some of these mortals were born gift to see the spirits while some simply held faith in them and wished to serve the world's goddess, helping provide goods from the towns and cities to her servants and aide her cause. The elder kijis also watched as their own kind changed, minds expanding in ways theirs had previously not.

Tirloch, despite his loyalty to their mother, awoke sooner than the others. He spoke with their former enemy, befriending them and growing empathy, when the time was right helping guide them along the path of redemption their mother offered. Sol fought to control these new feelings rising within them, remaining the perfect loyal child of their great mother, staying close to her and the old ways while continuing to guide others to do the same. The old soldier, Frostbite, found a small family of these youths form around him, slowly bringing love to his heart beyond the base loyalty to their mother. Time passed and they all grew as the world regrew, once more becoming Gaia's perfect garden, a paradise and the envy of all the cosmos.

Envy was what drew more trouble from among the stars, bringing forth another like Gaia, hungry for the life of the planet that sustained her sister. Yile took her place in the darkest depths where only few of her sister's fiery creations could reach and there in the darkest trenches she created her own, beasts born and at home in the water, the subtalleons. Her firstborn was given the name Shin'en, serving much the same purpose as Kokoro did for the kijis, guiding his kind in their mother's name. They were sent out to gather from the world and feed their own mother. The threat of war and the hope of peace are uncertain now. Despite the trials of the ages and the change within their minds, Gaia's children still stand at her side, waiting for her guidance as well as exploring the world for themselves. The story is far from over, and now more than ever the future lays within their hearts and the world's fate lays in their claws. The new future of an old world that is certainly worth protecting.
